Children with language disorders usually have a hard time understanding jokes. This is because the humor in jokes often involves an understanding of language relationships and/or social appopriateness. Man that is tricky for a little one with language problems! Our district sent out these jokes of the week to put up in our room. The kids love them and it leads into some very good language discussions. Try describing why a joke is funny to a kid...it's harder than you think but such a great language exercise.
